Why should Moms have all the fun?

smartyKid’s Girl-only Coding Club is modeled after smartyGirl’s successful Front-End Development classes.

We start with the basics and teach HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. No prior knowledge is needed. Girls will be split into small groups according to experience. Each participant will design and develop a website from scratch.

But we are more than just a fun week of coding. We hope to inspire girls to consider coding as a career by exposing them to local tech firms right here in Cambridge and presentations from females in the field.

We end the week showcasing their achievements and new skills.

WHO WE ARE

Sara leads Front-End Web Development classes at smartyGirl.org. She holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and freelances as a Web Developer. She is Mom to two amazing teenagers (and one awesome dog and two very shy cats).
